PortAventura: VR Roller Coaster

Virtual Reality experience adapted for people with functional diversity at PortAventura, the main tourist complex and amusement park in Barcelona.

Users stand on a wheelchair-adapted platform where they put on the virtual reality goggles. In the virtual reality experience, users experience the roller coaster ride in first person, while the platform moves in line with the twists and turns of the virtual ride.

We developed a photo-realistic immersive replica of the physical dark Uncharted-themed roller coaster. We recreated tonnes of Aztec gold,  rotating platforms, inverted free falls and a mysterious cave that perfectly mirrors the physical attraction.

Port Aventura shows its commitment to the Park’s digitalization and inclusivity by launching at the same time the roller coaster and its movement-enhanced VR twin.

Pioneers in recreating roller coasters for disabled people through virtual reality

Internationally renowned Uncharted saga

Customized virtual recreation

Port Aventura wants to recreate its last rollercoaster through Virtual Reality. They want to approach to disabled people with all the emotions, sounds and feelings generated at the Uncharted rollercoaster.

For this project we have used the Virtual Reality glasses Pico 4 PRO. This device allows us to achieve maximum graphic quality as it works connected to a computer. The  Pico 4 PRO system works at room scale, allowing users to move around a real space to interact with the application.
